myStandards feat. University of Applied Science Kiel: Corporate Policy Project

Passing on start-up knowledge and experience to students, putting our own processes to the test, answering questions about enterpreneurship and business models – all this was part of the work of myStandards over the last four months as part of a university project.

At the University of Applied Sciences in Kiel, students conduct within the subject “Corporate Policy” a strategic analysis in small groups for partner companies based in Kiel. The objective is to develop proposals for the strategic orientation of the companies within their competitive environment. The WIN-WIN situation for all parties involved: students can expand the skills they have learned at university in practice, while companies receive a sound business and environmental analysis. In the summer semester 2020, five business administration students carried out the corporate policy project under these aspects at myStandards GmbH. Due to the special situation caused by the COVID 19 measures, the first meeting and further interviews took place via zoom. Topics such as the existing strategy, internal distribution of resources or the competition within the industry were discussed by Christina Wittke together with the students and subsequently processed using various analysis methods.

The results were presented on 29. 06. 2020 with Ms. Wittke as guest, the marks were awarded less later, the result: more than satisfactory!

After completing their work, the students noted that they had benefited a lot from the project work at myStandards, because in the regular business studies, students tend to learn about methods and procedures using the classic B2C example, so that working with myStandards was a welcome and profitable challenge. Thus, the participants had to find their way around the B2B area of the geoscientific industry and understand the transdisciplinary work of the myStandards team.

On invitation, in the next semester myStandards will be again guest at the University of Applied Sciences to give students an insight into the world of a startup.
